Glamping in Dordogne — personally selected by Rink-Jan
Glamping Dordogne
The Dordogne is the land of castles, prehistoric caves and river valleys between limestone cliffs. Sarlat and the Lascaux caves are a quarter of an hour away, as are the castles of Beynac and Castelnaud. Summers are warm, around 27 degrees in July and August, and it stays pleasant into September too.
Camping Les Tailladis is run by the Dutch Hirsch family. There's a heated pool open from mid-April to the end of October, a toddler pool with a waterfall and a natural swimming spot next to the little river. The restaurant serves a different Périgord dish every day, and every week the campsite organises a guided canoe trip on the Dordogne.

DISCOVER THE REGION
Dordogne — more than just glamping
Discover what makes the Dordogne region so special — from breathtaking nature to rich culture and endless activities.
LOCATION & CLIMATE The Dordogne is in south-west France, in a landscape of river valleys and limestone plateaus. The campsite is in the Périgord countryside, with Sarlat and the Lascaux caves fifteen minutes away. Summers are warm, with 27 degrees in July and August, and spring and autumn stay pleasant at around 16 to 24 degrees.
NATURE The Dordogne winds between limestone cliffs, with oak and chestnut woods on the slopes. The Vézère Valley is known for its prehistoric caves and overhanging rocks. Five kilometres away is a lake with a beach, and the campsite itself has a stream and a natural swimming pond. Buzzards circle above the river, and sometimes an osprey.
ACTIVITIES Every week there's a guided canoe trip on the Dordogne past the castles. You can also swim in the lake at Tamniès, cycle and walk across the plateaus, and visit the weekly markets of Sarlat and Saint-Cyprien. The castles of Beynac, Castelnaud and Les Milandes are very doable with children, with falconry and knight demonstrations in season.
CULTURE The Lascaux caves show prehistoric paintings seventeen thousand years old; the Lascaux IV replica can be visited fifteen minutes away. Sarlat-la-Canéda is a perfectly preserved medieval town of yellow limestone, with a large Saturday market. The cuisine revolves around duck, goose, walnuts and truffles, with Bergerac wines alongside.
